Margate Police
The Margate City Police Department is investigating the assault Tuesday, Aug. 7 of a 15-year-old male at the Margate City baseball field on the 500-block of Jerome Avenue.
Police responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call at approximately 9:45 p.m. When police arrived, they discovered the victim had sustained injuries to his face and mouth, according to a release.
The Margate City Fire Department ambulance squad transported the youth to the Atlantic City Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
According to the victim, another group of males assaulted him and took a backpack he was carrying and then fled the scene. It is unknown what the assailants look like or what they actually stole from the victim.
The investigation is ongoing and police are gathering evidence and looking for witnesses.
