Ocean First Bank donates to the NJ Coastal Coalition

VENTNOR   The OceanFirst Foundation is supporting the New Jersey Coastal Coalition's mission to provide flood awareness information to local residentss through a donation made to the nonprofit on Tuesday.


The OceanFirst Ventnor Branch Manager Colleen Manera of Brigatine presented New Jersey Coastal Coalition Executive Director Tom Quirk of Ventnor with a $5,000 check Tuesday, Dec. 12 in Ventnor. With him were New Jersey Coastal Coalition board members Thomas Heist of Ocean City, John Van Duyne of Ventnor and Bruce Funk of Longport.


I would like to thank the OceanFirst Foundation, OceanFirst Bank and its CEO Christopher Maher for his time and generous contribution, Quirk said.


The New Jersey Coastal Coalition has worked since 2013 on flood mitigation and the challenges faced by Jersey Shore communities on tidal, rainwater and coastal flooding. Participating communities include Atlantic City, Avalon Borough, Brigantine Beach, Cape May City, Downe Township, Egg Harbor Township, Linwood, Longport Borough, Margate City, Ventnor City, Upper Township, Stone Harbor, Somers Point, Sea Isle City, Pleasantville, Ocean City, West Wildwood, Cape May Point and North Wildwood.


The New Jersey Coastal Coalition also produces Tidal Flooding Talk, a talk show hosted by meteorologist Dan Skeldon and Palma Accardi at 7 p.m. every Sunday at The Irish Pub in Atlantic City and streamed live on Facebook.
