COMPUTER HELP BY APPOINTMENT

Free computer help by appointment Jan. 2-March 30 during regular branch hours. Get help with your computer or device..Call or stop by the library for an appointment.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Open chess program for all ages noon-4:30 p.m. every Saturday, Jan. 5-March 30. Play  friendly game of chess, all experience levels welcome.

GATHERING WOOL

Join a quilting and knitting group that meets 10 a.m.-noon every Tuesday, Jan. 8-March 26. The program is free and all levels of experience are welcome. Join the group to stitch, loop, craft and chat. Learn to knit or crochet, create original handcrafted blankets, scarves, sweaters and more.

ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUP

English conversation group for adults 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 8-March 26. Improve your English conversation skills while meeting new people. Discuss a new topic weekly in English in a judgement-free zone. Discuss books, movies, hobbies, current events, or other topics of interest.

BOB ROSS PAINTING PARTY

Bob Ross Painting Party for adults 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9. Registration is required. Learn acrylic canvas painting via Bob Ross's encouraging step-by-step video tutorials. His instructional TV show, The Joy of Painting, aired on PBS in the 1980s and 1990s. Light refreshments and sparkling cider will be served. Please advise library staff of any food allergies.

READ & PLAY BABY

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor invites little ones between the ages of 12-36 months to its young story time activity 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Jan.10-March 28. Enjoy stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, finger-plays and more with your child, all designed to develop early literacy skills.

SELF-DEFENSE FOR ADULTS & SENIORS

The library is hosting a special self-defense event for adults and seniors 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15.. Registration is requested. This personal safety program, taught by a certified self-defense expert, will discuss and lightly demonstrate how body placement, movement and energy can help in uncertain situations.

BACK TO THE BEACH PHOTO TWINKLE JARS

Adult craft night 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16. Registration is requested. Make your own beach in a jar, and enjoy a warm twinkle all winter.Jars and twinkle lights provided. Bring small (3- by 5-inch) photo that will fit inside the jar.

PROJECT BARBIE RUNWAY

Three-session craft event called, Project Barbie Runway, for kids to come design clothing 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan.23, 30 and Feb.6. The free program is open to ages 6-12. Registration is required. Sketch, design and assemble an outfit for a Barbie doll, and prepare for a fashion runway debut during the last meeting. All materials and several dolls will be available.

INTO THE EVENING BOOK CLUB

Monthly book club for adults 6:15 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 24, Feb. 21, and March 28. In January, the group will discuss "Hum If You Don't Know the Words" by Bianca Marais, February's selection is "Love and Ruin"by Paula McLain, and in March, it's "An American Marriage"by Tayari Jones.

SELF-DEFENSE FOR FAMILIES

Special self-defense event for families 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. The personal safety program is designed for children ages 10 and up, teens, and their parents. Registration is requested. Come learn from a certified self- defense expert how to recognize and respond to dangerous situations, and use self-defense techniques if necessary.This is a gentle, hands-on experience; please wear comfortable clothes.
