MARGATE The Margate Business Association held its eighth annual Beachstock Saturday, June 30 on the beach and park behind the Margate Public Library. Billed as the Planet's Biggest Beach Party, it didn't fail to amaze and entertain as thousands flocked to the beach for food, music and fun things to do.
There were food tents, water ice, beer, mocktails, sand sculpting, music, and energetic kids and adults tried the zip line and hula dancing. Children were entertained throughout the day on the Kids Stage, while adults enjoyed the musical acts on the Main Stage.
The sweltering heat allowed families to relax on the beach under colorful umbrellas or swim in the ocean.
The city welcomed Team Will, a bicycle group peddling across the country to raise awareness of pediatric cancers. Mayor Michael Becker presented them with the key to the city and the riders dipped their tires into the Atlantic Ocean signaling the end of their 11-day trek, which started at the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco.
With a theme of Tide, Tunes and Togetherness the celebration ended with a performance by The British Invasion Experience on the main stage.
