LONGPORT - Don't fret if you see brownish water coming from the tap this week. Longport is flushing fire hydrants through Friday, April 12.
Conducting flow tests allows the Fire Department to ensure hydrants are in proper working order and allows the flushing of the water distribution system. The discoloration is not harmful and will dissipate withing a few hours.
Residents are advised to avoid doing laundry, especially whites, during business hours this week.
