Margate Public Library announces August programs

Margate Public Library

The Margate Public Library has announced its programs for August, including two new concerts. All events are free and open to the public.

Wednesday, Aug. 7, 7 p.m. - In partnership with the Margate Historical Society, the library presents "Great Storms of South Jersey," at Historic City Hall, 1 S. Washington Ave. Retired meteorologist Jim Eberwine will take a look back at catastrophic weather events, and a look forward at future storms.

Thursday, Aug. 8, 6:30 p.m. - Meet the Margate Police during the department's annual Law Day program in the parking lot behind the Margate Library, 8100 Atlantic Ave. Children will see motorcyles, 4-wheelers, cruisers and free demonstrations. Includes music, food and fun.

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 6 p.m. - Author Rachel Barenbaum will discuss her novel, "A Bend in the Stars" at the Martin Bloom Pavilion behind the library, 8100 Atlantic Ave. Book signing after her talk. Seating is limited.

Wednesday, Aug. 14, 6:30 p.m. - The Buddy Gale Big Band, directed by Dr. Lou Giunta, performs at the Dominick A. Potena Performing Arts Center, 7998 Monmouth Ave. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 30, 6 p.m. - Dr. K's Motown Review performs at Lucy the Elephant, 9200 Atlantic Ave. Celebrate 60 years of Motown history and music. Co-sponsored by Lucy the Elephant.
