Water now flowing freely in Margate

  • Margate

MARGATE The water slowed to a trickle in some areas today, but after some quick action by the city's Public Works Department, things were back to normal within a few hours.

The city posted a notice on its Facebook page early today that the water towers were out of commission and that Public Works was on the case.

According to Mayor Michael Becker, the water tower near Clemson Avenue lost water pressure due to a faulty valve.

City workers opened fire hydrants to reduce the level of water in the tank and got to work replacing the valve.

The area surrounding the water tower had low water pressure for several hours, Becker said.

Thank God for Public Works, he said. Our guys are great and they got it fixed as quickly as possible.

It took several hours for water pressure to return to normal levels, but all is well in Margate, he said.
