Stockton events focus on Afro-Latino experience

Atlantic City Councilman Moisse Delgade will be a keynote speaker at series of free events focusing on the Afro-Latino experience hosted by Stockton University Feb. 26 at both the Galloway and Atlantic City campuses.

The program, Afro-Latino Conexiones, will begin with a showing of the film Black in Latin America 10:30 a.m. in the Galloway Campus Center Theatre, followed by a discussion of the film led by Professor of Communications Donnetrice Allison, coordinator of Stockton's Africana Studies Program.

At 12:30 p.m., a panel of Stockton faculty will discuss Afro-Latino identity and experience. Panelists are Stockton faculty Associate Professor of Political Science Michael Rodriguez, Associate Professor of Spanish Arnaldo Roman-Cordero, Distinguished Professor of Criminal Justice Janice Joseph, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Arleen Gonzalez and Distinguished Professor of Social Work and Africana Studies Patricia Reid-Merritt. Assistant Professor of Atlantic History Kameika Murphy will moderate.

Atlantic City Councilman Moisse Delgado, who is Afro-Latino, will be the keynote speaker at a 4 p.m. reception in the Fannie Lou Hamer Room at the Stockton Atlantic City Academic Center, 3711 Atlantic Ave.

The reception will also include music by the City of Lights Church Band and Stockton students.

All events are free and open to the public.
