Lucy offers free admission to federal employees during shut-down

  • Margate

MARGATE - At its board meeting Jan. 14, the Board of Trustees of the Save Lucy Committee voted to offer complimentary admission to all federal employees and their immediate families during partial government shut down.

As a National Historic Landmark, we felt it was the right thing to do, said board President Davida Ross of Margate.

Although we are a National Historic Landmark, we receive no federal funding and therefore, the shutdown does not affect us," Lucy the Elephant Executive Director Richard Helfant said.

Any federal employee and their immediate family (spouse and children), will be offered complimentary admission to the 90-ton, six-story elephant for as long as the shutdown lasts. Employees must show valid federal employee identification.

Lucy the Elephant is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays January through March. Tours are conducted every half-hour with the last tour beginning at 3:30 p.m.
