Atlantic Cape faculty offer a day of service

  • Atlantic County

Faculty of Atlantic Cape Community College participated in a day of service Jan. 18 in celebration of MLK Day.

Atlantic Cape Community College faculty celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by dedicating a day of service in his honor.

On Friday, Jan. 18, Atlantic Cape faculty volunteers assembled food baskets, sorted donations, organized supplies, assisted with animal adoptions and served lunch. Volunteer locations were the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Egg Harbor Township, the Pet Valu Adoption Event in Cape May Court House, Sister Jean's Soup Kitchen and the Marie Adelaide Center in Atlantic City.

Today we answer Dr. King's call to serve and are making a difference in the lives of Atlantic and Cape May County residents, said Lynette Ingram, chairwoman of the Diversity and Equity Committee. Volunteer service is a powerful tool that unites us around a common purpose and builds strong communities. We are putting the core values of Atlantic Cape into action.

The Diversity and Equity Committee is comprised of faculty members whose mission is to foster civic engagement.
