Ventnor Library announces July programming

Ventnor Library and Cultural Arts Center.

VENTNOR - Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor, 6500 Atlantic Ave., recently announced events for the month of July.

GATHERING WOOL

Adult quilting and knitting group meets 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. The program is free and all levels of experience are welcome. Join the group to stitch, loop, craft and chat. Learn to knit, crochet, create original handcrafted blankets, scarves, sweaters and more.

A UNIVERSE OF MOVIES FILM SERIES

A film series in keeping with the Summer Reading Program 2019 theme, A Universe of Stories, 5-7:45 p.m. Tuesdays, July 2 Aug. 20. Celebrate the galaxy with a collection of modern and classic science fiction films and out of this world documentaries. Movies are suggested for adults and interested teens. Contact the branch for titles.

CLASSROOM ADVENTURES STORYTIME

Professional storyteller Don Dougherty of Classroom Adventures 20 a.m. Saturday, July 6. Suggested for ages 5-10.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Open chess program for all ages noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, July 6, 13,20 and 27. All are welcome to play a friendly game of chess along with others.

SPACE CAMP: MOONY MONDAYS

Space Camp: Moony Mondays is presented 2 p.m. Mondays, July 8 Aug. 19. Free programs for ages 7-10. Celebrates the Summer Reading Program 2019 with fun space-themed crafts. Make something unique or out of this world.

SPACE CAMP: WACKY WEDNESDAYS

Space Camp: Wacky Wednesdays is presented 5 p.m. Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31. Free program for ages 7-10. Some books transport you to other galaxies. Take time to explore this weekly book club for kids.

READ & PLAY BABY

Little ones between the ages of 12-36 months are invited to enjoy storytime activity 10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings, July 11, 18 and 25. Enjoy stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, fingerplays and more with your child, all designed to develop early literacy skills. Ask how to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

ALIENS: ESCAPE FROM EARTH WITH SCIENCETELLERS

Aliens: Escape from Earth features ScienceTellers 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20. Free program for ages 3-12. Join ScienceTellers as they demonstrate scientific principles through action-packed alien adventure, filled with fun science projects throughout this intergalactic story.

OUTTASIGHT BUTTONS

Craft program for all ages during regular branch hours Monday, July 22 - Tuesday, July 30. In honor of the 50^th anniversary of Woodstock, craft a colorful button to show your groovy artworks or message while supplies last. Make one for yourself and donate on to support the Atlantic County Library Foundation.

INTO THE EVENING BOOK CLUB

Monthly book club for adults 6:15 p.m. Thursday, July 25. Join in the discussion of great books in good company. This month's chosen selection is Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver.
