Ventnor middle schoolers enjoy end of school-year Super Extravaganza

  • Ventnor

VENTNOR - It's a party they look forward to all year long. Students of the Ventnor Middle School celebrated the end of the school-year Thursday, June 20 with the annual Super Extravaganza held on school grounds.

All middle schoolers who did not have any discipline referrals were able to participate in the fun day, which boasted bouncy rides and games, a dunk tank, pie eating contests, hamburgers, along with lots of candy and giveaways

It was the 12th year the school put on the party, which was sponsored by the Ventnor City Police and Fire departments and the Greater Absecon Island VFW Post. Local businesses donated food and prizes, according to teacher Kristin Aponte, who has helped organize the event for 11 years.

Teachers Mark Boothby and Russ Freeman cooked up the burgers, while other teachers manned the stations. Students collected tickets for participating in individual events, which they redeemed for prizes. The most popular giveaway this year was the giant pink flamingo floatie, which will likely be seen in pools and on beaches this summer.
