Mark J. McGurk
MAYS LANDING Mark J. McGurk, an employee in the city's Public Works Department, is facing child pornography charges after an investigation that began in January resulted in the discovery of more than 1,000 images, depicting sexual exploitation or abuse of a child, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.
McGurk, 25, was arrested Friday, March15 without incident at his residence in Ventnor City and he was charged with the following:
- Distribution of at least 1,000 items containing images depicting the sexual exploitation of children (first degree)
- Possession of at least 1,000 items containing images depicting the sexual exploitation of children with the Intent to distribute (first degree)
- Storing or maintaining at least 1,000 items containing images depicting the sexual exploitation of children using a file sharing program (first degree)
- Possession of at least 1,000 items containing images depicting the sexual exploitation of children (second degree)
McGurk is lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility where he awaits a detention hearing on Wednesday.
He was placed on leave without pay pending the outcome of the charges.
