Margate's Citywide Yardsale reveals treasures amid the raindrops

  • Margate

Michaela Sless, a senior at Mainland High School, shows some of the great stuff for sale at Margate's Citywide Yardsale, Saturday, May 4.

MARGATE It was a perfect day for yardsaling until it wasn't. Saturday, May 4 brought hundreds of people to Margate by the sea, all seeking to find a treasure no longer needed by its owner.

The annual Citywide Yardsale was held despite the chilly and sometimes rainy weather. Tarps were on and off the merchandise just waiting to be snapped up by bargain hunters.

Treasures included oversized lamps, slightly used linens, teapots still in their boxes and decorative pillows that would make a nice addition to a couch in Northfield.

One resident sold an entire set of antique living room furniture, including a couch, loveseat and two chairs, in favor of a more contemporary look in her remodeled home.

Anything not snatched up at bargain prices, was picked up curbside during the Public Works Department's cleanup on Sunday.
