Ventnor Business Association will hold its second annual Spring Block Party the Saturday before Mother's Day.
VENTNOR The Ventnor Business Association will hold its second annual Spring Block Party, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11 on Ventnor Avenue.
A four-block area will be shut down between Portland and Troy avenues for vendors, entertainers and amusements.
According to VBA Administrator Kathryn Francis, several new businesses and vendors will be joining those who set up tents along the avenue last year.
Red Room Café, Isabella's Mexican restaurant and Enlightened Café will be serving up some of their specialty dishes, and several food trucks will be set up on New Haven Avenue.
The block party features lots of entertainment, including local choruses and dance groups performing on the stage between New Haven and Troy avenues. There will be children's activities, bouncy rides, a slide and more.
We'll have several vendors selling hand-crafted items, she said.
According to Fire Inspector Joseph Iannuzzelli, the Ventnor City Fire Department will distribute CO detectors to those who need them and offer a special demonstration by the National Fire Protection Association on the benefits of having indoor sprinkler systems.
Several non-profit organizations will attend the event, including the RNS Heart and Cancer Fund, Francis said.
Although the weather forecast for Mother's Day on Sunday calls for a 60% chance of rain, on Saturday it should be partly sunny with temperatures in the high-60s.
The weather is going to hold out for us, Francis said. We're looking to another great event.
Parking is available at the Ventnor Educational Community Complex, 400 N. Lafayette Ave., with free shuttle service to the block party.
