MARGATE Everything the children of Margate needed to know they learned in Tracy Barth's kindergarten class a love for learning and to believe in themselves.

The beloved kindergarten teacher who welcomed hundreds of students to their first experiences in school, will retire this year after 27 years in the Margate schools.

Terry McGonigle reads a statement honoring her co-worker Tracy Barth who is retiring this year.

On Wednesday, May 8, the Board of Education and Interim Superintendent Thomas Baruffi honored her with a certificate of appreciation for her dedication and service to the children of Margate.

Although he has only supervised Barth for the last two years, Ross School Principal Ryan Gaskill said Barth is the cornerstone of kindergarten and always got our children off to a wonderful start.

Her colleague Terry McGongle said she will miss her co-worker, friend and confidant.

Thank you for making me a better teacher, mother and friend, she said.

It's really been an honor. I've always thought I've been so lucky to be in Margate. It's the best place around, Barth said.
