Margate Mayor Michael Becker presents a certificate to Ross School third grader Ava Varallo for her artwork that will be on the 2020 Ventnor-Margate beach tag.

Ventnor and Longport are selling holiday beach tags for the 2020 summer season just in time for holiday gift-giving.

In Longport, 2020 holiday and regular tags are for sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave., while supplies last. The holiday tags make great stocking stuffers and come in a silver or gold gift box. Seasonal holiday tags are $17 each and senior tags are $7 each.

Ventnor holiday tags are good in both Ventnor and Margate, but the revenue derived from tag sales stays with the municipality where they were purchased.

Tags for summer 2020 can be purchased at the Ventnor City Clerk's Office (Room 5) beginning Tuesday Nov. 19. Holiday tags in a silver gift box are $12. Regular tags, without the holiday design and gift box, are available at pre-season rates, $7 until June 1, 2020. Senior tags are $3.50. The cost of all tags increase to $14 on June 1.

Margate does not sell the holiday tags, but regular tags are available at pre-season rates at the Martin Bloom Pavilion, Huntington Avenue behind the Margate Public Library.

This year, Margate students entered a contest to come up with the design for the Ventnor-Margate regular tags.

Ross School students were recognized at the Nov. 21 Board of Commissioners meeting for their summer beach tag artwork submissions.

All third and fourth graders at the William H. Ross Elementary School participated in the art contest. Ava Varallo took first place with her design of a dolphin jumping out of the ocean and a little sand crab on the beach. Her artwork will be imprinted on the regular tags. Runners up were Todd Winfelder, John Varallo, Zach DelRosario and Michael Shapiro.

They really put their hearts into it, Principal Audrey Becker said about the students' efforts.

Now, everyone in Ventnor and Margate will see your artwork when they go to the beach," she told Ava.
