Ventnor Library and Cultural Arts Center.

The Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor, 6500 Atlantic Ave., announced the following programs to round out the year.

HOT CHOCOLATE GUESSING JAR

Hot-chocolate counting contest from Monday, Dec. 2 through Saturday, Dec. 21 during regular branch hours. All ages can guess how many marshmallows are in the jar and win a gift basket of cocoa mixes and more. Please advise staff of any food allergies.

GATHERING WOOL

Quilting and knitting group that meets 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Dec. 3-31. The program is free and all levels of experience are welcome. Join the group to stitch, loop, craft and chat. Create original handcrafted blankets, scarves, sweaters and more.

ONE-ON-ONE COMPUTER HELP

One-on-one computer help for adults noon Tuesdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17, and Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18.  Navigate the internet, learn to use e-mail, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Appointments are required. Contact the library branch to schedule an appointment, 609-823-4614.

MICROSOFT: POWERPOINT BASICS

Free computer class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. Participants must be experienced using the mouse and keyboard. Learn how to design slides, add text, graphics and animation to create effective presentations. Registration is required, as space is limited.

READ & PLAY BABY

Little ones between the ages of 12-36 months can enjoy a young storytime activity 10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings, Dec. 5, 12, and 19. Come enjoy stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, finger plays and more with your child, all designed to develop early literacy skills. Ask how to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program while you're here. The storytime includes sensory elements that are helpful to children with special needs.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Open chess program for all ages noon-4:30 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 7-28. Exercise your mind, play a friendly game of chess along with others.

COMPUTER BASICS

Free class in computer basics 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12. First-time computer users learn about the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and use menus and toolbars. Registration is required and begins two weeks before the session. Space is limited.

MICROSOFT WORD BASICS

Free computer class in Microsoft Word 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.18. Participants must be experienced using the mouse and keyboard. Enroll today to learn tips and tricks, and enhance your word-processing skills, documents and reports.Registration is required and begins two weeks before the session. Space is limited.

HISTORY EXPLORERS

History-based event 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 for kids ages 7-12. Journey back in time to visit fun destinations through books, costumes, and themed activities.This month's focus will be Polar Expedition.
