Margate crash claims life of 90-year-old Cherry Hill woman

MARGATE Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident shortly after noon Friday, Sept. 20 that claimed the life of a 90-year-old Cherry Hill woman.

According to release from Margate Police Information Officer Joe Scullion, a 911 call was received at 12:07 p.m. for the report of an accident at the Jerome and Amherst Avenue intersection.

Police said a vehicle being driven by an 80-year-old man from Cinnaminson attempted a left-hand turn onto Amherst Avenue when it collided with another vehicle traveling north toward the Downbeach Express toll plaza. A 90-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Cinnaminson man's vehicle was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where she later died.

No further information was provided.

The Margate City Fire Department and Ventnor City Fire Department ambulances assisted.

The accident is being investigated by Margate City Police Officer Jessica Fane with the assistance of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Investigations Unit.
