GATHERING WOOL

Quilting and knitting group meets 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Oct. 1-29. All levels of experience are welcome. Join the group to stitch, loop, craft, knit, crochet and chat.

ONE-ON-ONE COMPUTER HELP

One-on-one computer help for adults noon Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Oct. 1-30 and Thursdays, Oct. 17 and 31. Appointments are required. Navigate the internet, learn to use e-mail, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Call 609-823-4614.

READ & PLAY BABY

Storytime for little ones between the ages of 12-36 months 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Oct. 3 to Nov. 21. Enjoy stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, fingerplays and more with your child, all designed to develop early literacy skills. Ask how to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. The storytime includes sensory elements that are helpful to children with special needs.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Open chess program for all ages noon to 4:30 p.m Saturdays, Oct. 5 to Dec. 28. Enjoy the challenge of playing a friendly game of chess along with others.

MICROSOFT POWERPOINT BASICS

Free computer class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9. Registration is required, as space is limited. Participants must be experienced using the mouse and keyboard. Learn how to design slides, add text, graphics and animation to create effective presentations. Call 609-823-4614 to register.

CONNECTING WITH FRIENDS

The library offers special-needs adults, caretakers and educators a Connecting with Friends'' program 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 10 and 24. Join the branch for a friendly book club with crafts and interactive activities.

HARVEST CONCERT WITH STEVE KUZMA

Harvest concert with local artist Steve Kuzma 2-4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 12. All ages are welcome to celebrate the harvest season with music.

INTERVIEW SKILLS WORKSHOP

Sharpen your interview skills in this adult workshop 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Registration is required.This practical, hands-on course gives participants key skills needed to successfully prepare for an interview, practice proper interview techniques and effectively communicate their skills and accomplishments. DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT SUPPORT

Six-week diabetes workshop 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 16, 23 and 30 and Nov. 6, 13 and 20. Registration required. In this workshop, nurse Maggie Weaver explains how to manage diabetes symptoms, communicate with your health care providers, improve eating and exercise habits, and cope with stress, fear and frustration. THE MAGIC OF MATT CADABRA

Magician and ventriloquist Matt Cadabra performs for children 5 and older 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.  An hour of Halloween-themed mystery and fun. Matt has appeared in many of Atlantic City's casinos, and on America's Got Talent. Get a chance to pet the live rabbit at the end of the show.

Monthly book club for adults 6:15 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 24 and Nov. 21. Join in the discussion of great books in good company. October's chosen selection is "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens, and November will focus on "The Masterpiece" by Fiona Davis.

HISTORY EXPLORERS

Monthly history-based events  for children ages 7-12, 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 26, Nov. 23 and Dec. 21. Journey back in time to visit fun destinations through books, costumes, and themed activities. October, Me-o-Maya; November, Castle; December Polar Expedition.

BOB ROSS BIRTHDAY PARTY

Adults can enjoy a Bob Ross birthday party 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. Registration is required. "Put your dreams on canvas, even if you've never painted before." said Bob Ross. Learn acrylic canvas painting with free step-by-step painting video tutorials lead by Bob Ross. Light refreshments and sparkling cider served. BRING A FRIEND, MAKE A FRIEND

The library invites all adults to Bring a Friend, Make a Friend 3 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 30 and Nov. 27. Recent studies suggest that social networking is vital to a lifetime of health and well being. Come to the branch with a friend and make a new friend, sharing the joy of learning with us while we talk about almost anything. Local author Joy Jurnovoy leads the group to exchange thoughts on different interests, hobbies and talking points each month.
