MAYS LANDING The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Somers Point Police Department are conducting a cooperative investigation in the homicide of a Somers Point man, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner Wednesday, April 1.
On March 30 at 9:55 p.m., the Somers Point Police Department was asked by neighbors to do a welfare check on 67-year-old Somers Hickman at his Chapman Avenue home.
Upon arrival, officers found Hickman deceased in the home. They contacted the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and a cooperative investigation ensued.
An autopsy was done on March 31 and the pending cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma and the pending manner of death a homicide.
