Daily Update: Another loss and 22 new COVID-19 cases

Atlantic Count health officials Saturday, April 18 confirmed one new COVID-19 death and 22 new cases.

Today's death was reported in an 84-year old Egg Harbor Township woman with underlying health conditions.

Today's new cases include six Hammonton residents, three Linwood residents and two residents each from Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton Township and Pleasantville. Absecon, Brigantine, Buena, Galloway Township, Northfield, Somers Point and Ventnor each had one new positive resident.

With today's additions, the county now has 392 residents confirmed positive and 19 deaths related to COVID-19. A total of 71 residents have been cleared as recovered.

Symptomatic county residents who would like to be tested may make an appointment for drive-thru testing 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Tuesday, April 21 or Thursday, April 23 behind the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. They must present a doctor's prescription and proof of residency along with confirmation of their appointment which can be made online at www.aclink.org.

Atlantic County held its first COVID-19 drive-thru testing on April 9 for symptomatic first responders and healthcare workers. Testing for the general public began on Tuesday, April 14 and was held again on April 16.

The county has obtained 600 test kits and plans to secure more as needed
