ATLANTIC CITY - Absecon Lighthouse, New Jersey's tallest, and the country's third tallest lighthouse, will be celebrating National Lighthouse Day, Friday, Aug. 7 in
a brand new way.

Normally it's a day of free climbs, live music, and a sunset wine tasting in the 2-acre garden, but this year, the lighthouse is hosting a "Social Media Lighthouse Photo Contest." Lighthouse staff would like to see you, your family and/or friends pictured with your favorite lighthouse. Any national lighthouse is accepted in the photo contest.

Prizes include Absecon Lighthouse glassware, apparel, and Gift Shop souvenirs. All prize items are of the highest quality and custom designed for Absecon  Lighthouse.

Pictures may be posted on the lighthouse's Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages until Sunday, Aug. 9. Tag photos with "Happy LH Day Abby!" to be entered into the contest.

Winners will be determined the week of Aug. 10.

Absecon Lighthouse, 31 S. Rhode Island Ave., is a state-owned historic property administered by the non-profit Inlet Public/Private Association. It is open to visitors 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and until 8 p.m. Thursdays, during July and August. The last climb is a half-hour before closing.

This event has been made possible by funds from the Atlantic County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, a partner of the NJ State Council on the Arts.
