NOAA/Expected arrival times for Isaias.

The Ventnor City Office of Emergency Management issued an advisory Monday, Aug. 3 cautioning residents and visitors about what to do as tropical storm Isaias approached New Jersey. Isaias is scheduled to arrive in New Jersey sometime Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

Residents are advised to:

  • Move your vehicles to higher ground especially in low lying areas.

  • Do not drive through flood waters.

  • Remove or secure all outside items.

  • Stay out of the ocean.

High tides are as follows:

  • Monday Aug. 3 - 8:21 p.m. at 5.2 feet

  • Tuesday Aug.4 - 8:47 a.m. at 4.0 feet, and 9:02 p.m. at 5.1 feet

  • Wednesday Aug. 5 - 9:29 a.m. at 4.0 feet, and 9:42 p.m. at 4.9 feet

Be aware that:

  • Heavy rainfall will lead to flooding.

  • Wind gusts may be up to 70 miles per hour

  • Rip currents and up to 12-foot seas

Access to the Ventnor Heights area may be restricted with road closures due to high tides on Wellington and Dorset avenues until the water recedes.

The Office of Emergency Management recommends you shelter in place. If you need to go out, drive safely and responsibly. Don't drive through flood waters or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown. If you must drive, be courteous to area homeowners because the wakes created increases water intrusion into homes and businesses along the roadway.

Respect your first responders. Also be aware that first responders are required to shelter in place if maximum sustained winds reach 47 miles per hour.
