On Sunday, Aug. 9, Atlantic County health officials reported no new deaths from COVID-19 for the eighth consecutive day. Only seven new positives were identified in three men, ages 38-56, and four women, ages 18-39.
Two of today's confirmations were found in Egg Harbor Township while one new positive was found in each of the following locations: Buena Borough, Estell Manor, Galloway Township, Linwood and Pleasantville.
COVID-19 has been confirmed in 3,656 Atlantic County residents to date with 2,057 having been cleared as recovered. It has claimed the lives of 241 residents.
Atlantic County will continue to provide Covid-19 testing at its drive-thru facility in Northfield at Rt. 9 and Dolphin Avenue, behind the county public works yard, 9-11:30 a.m. each Tuesday in August, unless otherwise noted.
The test site is available for both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents with or without a doctor's prescription. Residents must make an appointment for testing and provide proof of county residency and appointment confirmation.
Appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel no less than 24 hours in advance so others may have an opportunity to fill those spots.
A list of additional testing locations in Atlantic County is available at: https://www.atlantic-county.org/covid/additional-testing-locations.asp
At this time, labs throughout the state are experiencing delays in reporting results due to the high volume of testing.
Health officials also remind residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common-touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.
