VENTNOR The Board of Commissioners Thursday announced that access to City Hall would be limited starting Monday, Dec. 14.

Because of an increase in COVID-19 surge after Thanksgiving and an anticipated surge coming after Christmas, we are increasing safety protocols at City Hall, which is also our Police Department headquarters, Commissioner of Public Safety Tim Kriebel said said. We are being pro-active and want it to be safe for employees and the public. We will include other safety protocols for employees going into the holiday season.

Access to the building will be limited to the Cambridge Avenue entrance, masks are mandatory.

Any business will be conducted at the entrance to protect employees from potential exposure to COVID-19. A drop box will be located inside the entrance where residents can drop off documents, payments, etc.

According to city officials, anyone entering the building will be required to sign-in on a portable device that also scans for temperature.

Commissioner Lance Landgraf said the Building Department/Zoning Office will continue to do inspections to ensure building projects are not affected. The department may be scheduling employees to work in split shifts, he said.

We will work through those details in the coming days. We don't want to shut down our construction in the city, he said.

Inspections will continue under COVID-19 protocols used earlier this year.

In other business, the commissioners announced that the Ventnor City Farmers Market organizers, Penny and Andy Starer and Maria Gatta, would be making their customary annual donation to the city in the form of a portable bicycle rack that can be used in different locations during special events.
