Longport Library offerings include free concert and opportunity to learn new languages

LONGPORT - Your Longport Library card now gives the holder an opportunity to learn new languages through Mango, an online platform that provides personalized instruction in French, Hebrew, and nearly 70 other languages. The platform can be accessed on your computer, smart phone or tablet.

Other events during Heart Month include Chef Linda Schwartz demonstrating her flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Participants will receive the recipe and get to sample her cake, and if available after tastings, get to take a piece home.

Downbeach's favorite chanteuse Gina Roche will perform a free concert at the library 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21.

This month's Sandy Pages Book Club choice is "Next Year in Havana" by Chanel Cleeton. It will be discussed 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24. March's book selection is "The Alice Network" by Kate Quinn.

The library will host Trivia Night 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25. Bring a friend and play six rounds of categories to test your knowledge.

Art class is coming to the library 1 p.m. Monday, March 23. Art teacher Adele Governatore will provide instruction on painting shore landscapes using acrylics.

Other ongoing programs include a needlers club and chess club on Mondays, Pinochle on Tuesdays and mahjong on Saturdays.
