Wind farm jobs forum to be held at the Flanders in OC

  • Ocean City

OCEAN CITY - The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, with support from offshore wind developer Orsted, will host an Ocean Wind Jobs Forum to share information on jobs and supply chain opportunities related to Orsted's Ocean Wind offshore wind project. The forum will be held 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City.

Ocean Wind, New Jersey's first offshore wind farm, is a proposed 1,100-megawatt offshore wind farm that will be located 15 miles off the coast of Atlantic City.

The project is expected to create 3,000-plus jobs through the development and construction cycle and 69 full-time jobs that remain in place to operate and maintain the wind farm post-construction. Additionally, Tier One suppliers, which provide parts and services to Orsted, may expand employment opportunities as a result of the project.

During the forum, attendees will hear from keynote speaker Joseph L. Fiordaliso, president of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, as well as representatives from Orsted, their Tier One suppliers and a panel of local stakeholders who will discuss the synergies of offshore wind development for the region.

Following lunch, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in match-making meetings to network with Orsted and Tier One suppliers.

The schedule of speakers follows:

9:30 a.m.  Keynote speaker Joseph L. Fiordaliso, president, NJBPU

10 a.m. Panel discussion on Impacts of Wind Development for Cape May County

11 a.m. Panel discussion on How to Get Involved with the Ocean Wind Project
