Stockton University will co-sponsor two events on Monday, Jan. 27 as part of the 75th anniversary commemoration of the liberation of the former German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in occupied Poland in 1945.
A bus trip to the United Nations Holocaust Memorial Ceremony in New York will leave Stockton's Campus Center in Galloway Township at 6:45 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $10 and includes a guided tour of the U.N. and access to the ceremony. The Katz Jewish Community Center, 501 N. Jerome Avenue in Margate, will host a live simulcast viewing of the 75th anniversary commemoration at Auschwitz-Birkenau from 9:30-11 a.m. The viewing is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information call 609 652-4699.
The events are co-sponsored by the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton, Stockton's Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies Program, the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage of Stockton, the Milton and Betty Katz Jewish Community Center and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Foundation.
