What to know before you go to see Trump in Wildwood

City of Wildwood Police Department announces list of disallowed items at President Donald Trump's rally on Jan. 28

WILDWOOD The stage is set for President Donald Trump's rally in Wildwood starting 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Wildwoods Convention Center. If you're planning to attend, be advised about what you will not be allowed to bring the list is detailed and extensive.

Road closures around the convention center will begin at noon. Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto advises that since larger than normal crowds are expected for the rally, all vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be significantly reduced around the Wildwoods Convention Center. These areas will be clearly marked. The Trump rally officially starts at 5 p.m. with President Donald Trump scheduled to go on at 7 p.m.

When the President arrives in our city this Tuesday, the men and women of the Wildwood Police Department, along with our local, county, state and federal law enforcement partners, will be focused on our primary responsibility, which is to ensure the public safety of all who will participate in the rally, Regalbuto said. The Wildwood Police Department will supervise a comprehensive, operational public safety plan which includes a highly visible and capable police presence in and around the Wildwoods Convention Center on the day of the rally."

Regalbuto said everyone's safety it a priority.

"The Wildwood Police Department intends to provide a safe and peaceful opportunity for people to exercise their Constitutional rights. As such, I must emphasize that criminal conduct by anyone, including property damage, will not be tolerated. Those individuals choosing to engage in such illegal behavior will be arrested, and we will work with our criminal justice agencies to ensure they are properly charged to the full extent of the law."

Those attending the rally are asked to enter through the front door entrance of the Wildwoods Convention Center. All other entrances will be closed. Disallowed items will be confiscated and will not be returned.

The primary goal for the Wildwood Police Department is safety for all of those who attend the rally, according to a release.

The Wildwood Fire Department will be keeping a close eye on numbers to make sure everything is within fire code. Both the Wildwood Police Department and the Wildwood Fire Department will be under the direction of the U.S. Secret Service. Those attending the rally are asked to make sure the items they are planning to bring inside the Wildwoods Convention Center are approved by the Transportation Security Administration. Anything prohibited by the TSA will not be allowed to be brought inside of the Convention Center.

"The Wildwood Police Department and the Wildwood Fire Department urges everyone participating in the rally on Jan. 28 to be aware of the items that will be prohibited when entering the Wildwoods Convention Center, Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto said.

Below is an extensive list of items that are NOT allowed at the Wildwoods Convention Center:

• Aerosols and spray containers


• Alcoholic beverages


• Ammunition


• Animals other than service/guide animals


• Appliances


• Backpacks, bags, roller bags, suitcases, and other bags larger than 12x14x5


• Balloons and balls


• Banners, signs, and placards, and supports for signs/placards


• Chairs


• Coolers


• E-cigarettes


• Drones and other unmanned aircraft systems


• Explosives of any kind, including fireworks


• Glass, thermal, and metal containers


• Laser lights and laser pointers


• Mace and/or pepper spray


• Noisemakers, such as air horns, whistles, drums, bullhorns, etc.


• Packages


• Poles, sticks, and selfie sticks


• Recreational motorized mobility devices


• Signs exceeding the size restrictions (20'x3'x ¼ )


• Tents and similar structures


• Toy guns


• Tripods


• Umbrellas


• Weapons of any kind, including firearms


• Any other item that may pose a threat to the security of the event, as determined by, and at the discretion of, security screeners

Be advised that items that are surrendered will not be returned.

Outdoor heaters, portable laboratories and foot trucks are expected to be placed in the area outside of the Convention Center for the rally.

Entry to the rally is not guaranteed, and is given on a first-come, first-serve basis to the first 7,500 people in line.
