Designers of Longport beach tags honored

LONGPORT - The Board of Commissioners Wednesday, July 15 recognized students who won the borough's annual beach tag design contest.

Children were asked to draw pictures that represent the summer in Longport. Two winners are selected each year and their designed put on the regular seasonal tag and the senior citizen tag.

Michael DiGiovanni, a seventh grader at St. Charles Borromeo School in Cinnaminson was recognized for his artwork depicting the smiley-faced water tower and beach scene, which was used for the senior tag.

Longport's 2020 beach tags were designed Emma Franzosa, who designed the seasonal tag and Michael DiGiovanni who designed the senior tag.

Emma Franzosa, a third grader at the Charles Harker School in Woolwich Township, was also a winner for her design of a Longport Beach Patrol lifeguard stand, umbrella and surf boat. Her design was used on the regular seasonal tag.

Each of the students attended the meeting with their parents. They each received a regular beach tag they can use this year when they go to the beach in Longport.
