Atlantic County public health officials Saturday, June 13 reported the deaths of eight long-term care residents from complications of COVID-19. They included four men, ages 55, 83, 94 and 95, and two women, ages 91 and 96, all from Galloway Township, as well as a 55-year-old Hammonton woman and a 94-year-old Egg Harbor Township woman. All eight residents had pre-existing health conditions.
The county also identified 18 new Covid-19 cases in nine males, ages 8-91, and nine females, ages 6-89.
Six of the new positives were found in Pleasantville, three each in Hammonton and Somers Point and two in Northfield. Atlantic City, Folsom, Galloway and Hamilton townships each had one new positive resident.
No deaths were reported Sunday, June 14, but 13 more residents tested positive including eight males, 24-88, and five females, ages 15-49.
Three Atlantic City residents were among those testing positive, as well as two each from Buena Vista Township and Galloway Township. Absecon, Egg Harbor and Hamilton Township, Hammonton, Margate and Pleasantville each had one new positive confirmation.
For the second consecutive day and fifth time in the past eight days, the county reported today there were no deaths and only seven new positive tests confirmed in three men, ages 51-85, and four women, ages 43-100. Four of those residents were located in Absecon, and one each in Egg Harbor Township, Hammonton and Northfield.
Today's cases bring the countywide totals to 2,560 positives with 1,248 cleared as recovered and 182 deaths.
Atlantic County will continue its COVID-19 testing 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 16 by appointment for symptomatic county residents with a doctor's prescription. Testing is conducted in Northfield behind the county's public works yard at Route 9 (New Road) and Dolphin Avenue.
