Margate City Public Library announced it would provide curbside pickup starting Wednesday, June 17 according to Gov. Phil Murphy's Executive Order No.2020-15.
This is a wonderful first step, library Director Jim Cahill said. Patrons have been very patient and we're sure they'll be excited by this news.
While the building is closed to the public, starting Wednesday, patrons will be able to call to pick up items they place on reserve. High call volume is expected, so the library strongly recommends patrons place requests through the online catalog.
Here's how curbside pickup will work 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Step 1 : Place hold requests for books/DVDs:
Step 3: To schedule curbside pickup, call between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at least 30 minutes before pick up or to schedule a time later in the day when the items will be ready.
Step 4: Pull into the parking lot accessible on S. Granville Avenue behind the building and call 609-822-4700 to announce your arrival. Open the trunk and your order will be brought to the vehicle.
Library staff will not accept returns in the parking lot. Returns are to be placed in the exterior bookdrops.

The library is waiving all fines and fees for items that have been checked out since before it closed.
Our patrons will not be penalized due to the pandemic, Cahill said.No fines will be assessed for overdue books and DVDs.We want all materials returned and we'll take care of the rest.
Bookdrops will be unlocked on Wednesday so that patrons may return books and DVDs.
Libraries may be allowed to reopen as a part of Stage 3 as outlined by the governor.
