Carter will graduate cum laude from Ocean City High School and plans to attend Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pa., where he will major in business. An exceptional athlete, Carter is a National Honor Society member and has been a distinguished scholar throughout high school. He served as senior-co-captain of the Ocean City High School Swim Team and as a community service volunteer for the Max Cure Foundation, Hoops for All, and the Beth Israel Youth Group.

The MBA scholarship program started providing scholarships in 1999 through its Educational Foundation Fund. More than $110,000 has been awarded since its inception.

Scholarships are available to Margate and Longport residents who attended Margate schools and will graduate from a local high school. The annual scholarship program requires adult references and essay submission. This year's essay prompt asked students to take a position regarding climate change in a letter to Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old Swedish climate activist.

Funds for the scholarship are raised primarily through an annual wine-tasting held at Steve and Cookie's By the Bay in Margate.  Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's wine tasting, originally planned for April,  has been tentatively rescheduled to Oct. 8.
