Margate cancels just about everything

MARGATE - The city posted a notice on its website today, cancelling many city-sponsored activities in an effort to be pro-active in dealing with the anticipated spread of the coronavirus Disease COVID-19.

According to the posting, the city, its officials and department heads are taking all of the necessary safety precaution and following CDC recommendations to ensure the safety of employees, residents and visitors.

The following events and activities are affected:


  • The Heritage Band of America Band Concert scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 at the Margate PAC is cancelled.

  • All Margate City Recreation programs are suspended until further notice.

  • The Margate City Senior Citizen Center at the Bloom Pavilion will cease all activities effective Friday, March 13 until further notice.

  • Senior bus service will continue on a limited basis. Call the Pavilion at 609-822-2285 for additional information.

  • Beach badge sales are suspended until April 6.


The city will be post additional information on the Margate City website and Facebook page.  Residents are asked to follow the appropriate recommended guidelines, including social distancing to limit the potential for exposure.

The city will work with local, county, state and federal agencies in monitoring the COVID-19 virus and the impact on the area to ensure the health and safety of employees, residents and visitors.

Various city departments will continue to provide the highest level of service during this time, the post states.

The city asks residents to share this information with others. It further recommends signing up for the CodeRed emergency notification system, which can be accessed on the home page at Margate-nj.com.
