In an effort to educate the public what to do in the event of a severe weather event, the U.S. Coast Guard has offered recorded video statements and readiness tips ahead of the second named storm of the season, Bertha, which made landfall in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday.
Hurricane season starts on June 1, but there have already been two named tropical storms. As the ocean waters warm, storms may become more intense.
Knowing how to prepare for a hurricane or any severe weather is crucial in helping ensure personal safety and protection of property.
