The Atlantic County Division of Public Health reported no new deaths related to COVID-19 over the Labor Day weekend. The last fatality, and the only one to date this month, was reported on Sept. 2 in a 78-year-old woman with underlying health condition. There have been 246 county residents who have died as a result of COVID-19 since April 2.

Health officials also confirmed 23 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday, Sept.4. They include five males, ages 9-68, and 18 females, ages 3-81 with locations as follows: four each from Galloway Township and Pleasantville; three each from Absecon, Egg Harbor Township and Hammonton; two each from Buena Vista Township and Egg Harbor City; and one each from Atlantic City and Somers Point.

With these weekend additions, there is now a countywide total of 4,037 residents who have tested positive, of whom 2,738, or approximately 68%, have been cleared as recovered.

Atlantic County will continue to provide COVID-19 testing by appointment at its drive-thru facility in Northfield at Rt. 9 and Dolphin Avenue, behind the county public works yard.

Testing is scheduled for 9-11:30 a.m. each Tuesday through Sept. 29. The only exception will be this week when testing will occur on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The test site is available for both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents and no prescription is necessary. Residents must provide proof of county residency and appointment confirmation.

If available, appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel no less than 24 hours in advance so others may have an opportunity to fill those spots.

Health officials urge residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.
