VENTNOR The Board of Commissioners Thursday, April 22 agreed to allow alcohol to be served and consumed during concerts being held this summer at the Newport Avenue beach park and at Ski Beach.
According to the commissioners, the city has contracted with one of its plenary retail licensees to set up a beer garden on the grounds during the concerts. The ordinance banning the consumption of alcohol will be suspended 3-10 p.m. on the beach blocks of Newport and New Haven avenues and at Ski Beach in the Ventnor Heights section of the city on concert days.
The resolution also allows the Police Department to post No Parking signs 2-11 p.m. at those locations. The boat ramp at Ski Beach will also be closed on concert days.
Additionally, the city will close the boat ramp and authorize temporary No Parking restrictions at Ski Beach Friday to Sunday, June 11-13 to accommodate the Paddle for a Cause fundraiser being held by the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation.
Concerts will be held 6-9 p.m. Saturdays at the gazebo on Newport Avenue. Crafters, food and drinks will be available starting at 5 p.m.
