MARGATE - The Margate Business Association's Duck Derby raffle will be held on Sunday, Aug. 22 with the weighted rubber ducks departing from Ray Scott's Dock, Amherst Avenue. Activities will begin at 11 a.m. along the Washington Avenue Pier and walkway with the derby beginning at approximately 11:30 am. Guests can watch the ducks race to the finish line from the Washington Avenue Pier.
Children can also try their luck at the Duck Chuck, Quack in the Hole, Fishin' for Fowl and other great activities for some fun prizes. Providing great musical entertainment for the event is USA DJ who will be playing the "Chicken Dance" for guests to participate and the best chicken dancer selected by USA DJ wins a prize.
To participate in the Quack-A -Palooza, adults 21 and older can purchase their raffle ticket at Ray Scott's Dock, Thrilling Thursdays' Movies on the Beach. or from Wendy at Bocca Coal Fired Bistro 4-8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The ducks will be dumped into the bay between Ray Scott's Dock and the Washington Avenue Pier with kayakers and boats guiding the ducks and making sure that no duck escapes. The rubber ducks will be scooped out by the kayakers at the end of the derby.
The numbered weighted ducks correspond to the number on the purchaser's raffle ticket. The first three ducks to enter the finish area will win prizes. Prizes are Visa pre-paid gift cards with $1,000 first prize, $500 second prize and $250 third prize.
Rain Date is Aug. 29. In the event that both dates are cancelled due to weather or tides, the winners will be determined by drawing from a container in accordance with the rules of Legalized Games of Chance (Raffle license ID# 289-8-3465, License # 710-2021.
