Ventnor holiday parade delights spectators along the 1-mile route

  • Downbeach

VENTNOR - It was a glorious night for a holiday parade. Ventnor City held its annual Twilight Holiday Parade Saturday, Dec. 4 on Ventnor Avenue.

The parade, which was not held last year due to the virus plaguing the nation, was a mile long and took a new direction this year. In past years, the parade only went a quarter mile and traveled south to the Ventnor City Professional Campus were activities were held.

This year's northerly route took everyone to the new Ventnor Memory Park, a pocket park funded through private donations. In the little park, residents and visitors mingled among the beautifuly placed holiday lights and listened to a quartet of Victorian costumed singers offering holiday carols.

The holiday parade included dignitaries waving from the backs of convertables, honor guards, floats loaded with children of the local schools and the Ventnor Pirate football team, three high school marching bands and even a pair of dancing rabbis. Retiring Ventnor Police Chief Douglas Biagi was the grand marshall of the parade.
