The Longport Public Library will be presenting two virtual programs from the Museum of the American Revolution 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 and Tuesday, March 16.
The Same Principle Lives in Us: People of African Decent in the American Revolution on Feb. 16 investigates American revolutionaries who struggled with the words in the Declaration of Independence all men are created equal. Hear their stories and explore the objects at the museum that show what it was like for Phyllis Wheatley, Elizabeth Freeman, James Forten, Harry Washington and others.
On March 16, it's When Women Lost the Vote: A Revolutionary War Story, 1776-1807. Learn the little known history of the nation's first women voters and get a peek at artifacts that tell their stories.

Sandy Pages Book Club will discuss The Orphan Keeper by Camron Wright 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22. The event will be held virtually via GoToMeeting and in-person at the library where face masks and social distancing is required. Seating is limited. Call the library at 609-487-7403 to make a reservation.
Yes, you can arrange flowers virtually. Join Kim Ryon of RainFlorist in Ventnor 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 for a virtual flower arranging class. Make a small topiary using alstromeria and hydrangea in bright colors, floral foam and a biodegradable pot. All materials will be provided and can be picked up at the library by 5 p.m. on the day of the event. Longport residents get first dibs on registration. Call 609-487-7403 to register.
