SOMERS POINT - Shore Medical Center recently announced that stores clerk Kendall Bettis was named its February Employee of the Month and critical care nurse Michelle Williams was named Guardian Angel of the Month.

Bettis, who has worked various positions at Shore since 2010, was recognized for being a team player as a member of the materials management and sterile processing team.

Kendall has a great attitude and work ethic, and always respects and cares for our patients and fellow staff. She has made an especially big impact in the maternity department, which values her work greatly, said Bob Robertson, administrative director of Logistics.

Bettis's coworkers added that Bettis goes above and beyond to make sure that the maternity department is well stocked and they miss her when she isn't there.

In her free time, Bettis, who lives in Atlantic City, loves to garden, travel, listen to music, and spend time with her family. Bettis's work ethic is unrivaled by many and her dedication to Shore does not go unnoticed.

Williams, a member of Shore's healthcare team since 1988, currently works in the telemetry unit.

Telemetry and ICU Nurse Manager Luann McGroarty, BSN RN-BC, said Williams is an excellent critical care nurse and is able to handle any situation with ease. She added that on many occasions Williams functions as a preceptor for new RN's as well as a charge nurse in the telemetry unit.

Using words like meticulous, patient and always reliable, McGroarty said.

Michelle has excellent skills and truly has an innate ability to communicate exceptionally well to patients as well as onboarding new RN's. She is always the first staff member to volunteer for projects and she is an excellent preceptor with a high standard for delivery of care, McGroarty said.

Williams' ability to communicate stood out to a recent mother of a patient who made a Guardian Angel donation in her honor.

My son's very first encounter with a hospital was his recent six-day stay at Shore. He had excellent care, but Michelle stood out. She was a good communicator, compassionate, understanding and expressed genuine concern for his recovery and for my well-being. We are so appreciative for everything Michelle did for our family, she said.

Williams lives in Absecon with her husband and son.
