MARGATE A dolphin jumping through the waves, a beautiful butterfly visiting a garden, or your favorite critter found on the beach or bay. These are some of the images that can be found in a clean marine environment.
The Margate Business Association and Sustainable Margate are teaming up to present the Earth Day 2021 Virtual Poster Contest to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy ecosystem. Children and adults are being asked to create a poster reflecting environmental and marine awareness within Margate's seaside community.
The MBA and Sustainable Margate look forward to seeing all the creative work our community has to offer and how we can all work towards protecting our precious resources, Sustainable Margate Chairman Steve Jasiecki said. With the ocean on one side and the wetlands on the other, we are surrounded by two environmentally sensitive ecosystems that need our protection.
The Earth Day event designed to create awareness of the environment and encourage everyone to become better stewards of the Earth.
And what's a better way to learn about our environment then to do this in a fun and engaging way? he said.
Submit a photo of your drawing by April 2 to [email protected]. Include the artist's name, age and email address. All submissions will be posted on the Margate Business Association website www.margatehasmore.com, Facebook and Instagram pages. Hard copies of the posters can be submitted for display at participating Margate retailers during the week of Earth Day, April 17-26. Hard copies are due no later than April 9. Contestants will be judged on originality, creativity and impact. Winners will be announced on April 26. Age group categories are 5 and under, 6-9, 10-15, and 16 and over. Prizes will be awarded for first place in each age category and best in show.
