Ventnor firefighter deployed to nation's Capitol

Ventnor Firefighter Sean Latimer, a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard 177th Fighter Wing, is currently in Washington DC, protecting the seat of democracy in the nation's Capitol.




Latimer was among the Jersey Devils stationed at Atlantic City International Airport activated last week for emergency deployment to Washington D.C. He is a crew chief for the F-16 Fighter Wing.




Latimer joined the US Air Force in 2001 at the age of 19 and served on active duty through 2005. He then transferred to the NJ Air National Guard's 177 Fighter Wing. With more than 19 years of military service in Japan, Iraq, Afghanistan and South Korea, Latimer has served the country for nearly half his life.



He was hired as a Ventnor City firefighter in 2012 after a deployment in Afghanistan.


He is the father of two children with his wife Deesha, a captain in the Air Guard who is also assigned to the 177th.
