Pixabay/Atlantic City Convention Center will be a mega site for COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Atlantic County Division of Public Health will begin administering second dose vaccinations at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing to those who received their first doses of Moderna vaccine at that location Jan. 5-21.
Each recipient will be notified by email or phone with instructions about a week prior to the date after which they may receive their second dose. Recipients will not have to compete for appointments with those looking for first doses. Notifications will be issued in staggered batches to ensure efficient management of appointments.
All six regional COVID-19 vaccination mega sites in New Jersey are now open, including the Atlantic City Convention Center, which began accepting additional appointments as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 26 at https://vaccination.atlanticare.org.
A list of other current vaccination locations throughout the state is available at https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/covid-19-vaccine-locations-for-eligible-recipients.
The state also activated a Call Center on Jan. 25 for those who do not have access to a computer or may have difficulty making an online appointment. The Call Center number is 855-568-0545.
The county is very much aware that appointments are extremely difficult to obtain due to a limited supply of vaccine for the more than four million individuals who meet the current state-issued eligibility criteria.
Individuals eligible for their second doses are advised to seek appointments where they received their first doses to ensure they receive the same vaccine. Some locations are providing Pfizer vaccine that requires 21-days between doses, while others are providing Moderna vaccine that requires 28 days between doses.
Second doses are also necessary to receive the full efficacy, estimated to be approximately 94-95%.
The Atlantic County Division of Public Health has also obtained an additional limited supply of first doses of Moderna vaccine, which it will be providing to eligible recipients, by appointment, on Monday, Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, at Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing.
We've received some additional doses, but the vaccine supply is still extremely limited, Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said in a release. We recognize that we will not be able to satisfy all those who seek appointments. The overwhelming demand outnumbers the current supply. We were given these additional first doses by the state with the understanding that after their distribution we would then be transitioning our staff and resources to the mega site in Atlantic City.
The Atlantic City Convention Center, one of six vaccination mega sites in New Jersey is also providing first doses by appointment, at vaccination.atlanticare.org. A list of other vaccination locations throughout the state is available at covid19.nj.org and on the county website.
