Holocaust Resource Center seminars available to educators

The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University will hold the fourth annual Wally and Lutz Hammerschlag Summer Educator Seminar with Yad Vashem via Zoom from Jerusalem, Israel from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., July 27-29.

The theme of the workshop is Lessons for Hope: Learning about rescue, resistance, and faith during WWII and the Holocaust.

The goal of the seminar sessions is to teach about the history of the Holocaust by using the theme of hope to learn about the past to make a better future for all. Strategies for educators and resources will be shared.

The seminar will be on-line via Zoom by pre-registration only. The seminar is free and open to all teachers of grades 4-12 and college. Participants can register for one, two, or all three days. NJ Professional Development Hours will be earned by participants.

  • Shanghai, China: Refuge from Nazi-occupied Europe - Holocaust survivor, Betty Grebenschikoff;

  • Faith during the Holocaust Dr. David Deutsch, Head of International Seminars Yad Vashem;

  • Responsible for Each Other: Mutual Assistance in the Holocaust Dr. David Silberklang, Senior Historian Yad Vashem;

  • Fierce Females: Women in the Resistance- Sheryl Ochayon, Director Echoes & Reflections Project & International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem; and

  • Spiritual and Armed Resistance During the Holocaust Lori Gerson, International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem.
