Congressional App Challenge now open to middle, high school students

  • Downbeach

U.S. Congressman Jeff Van Drew (D-2nd) has announced that the Congressional App Challenge, the most prestigious prize in student computer science, is now open for South Jersey middle and high school students. The CAC is a nationwide event where students compete against their peers by creating an application, or "app," on a platform of their choice.

Last year's D-2nd winners were Justin Tresvalles and Raphaelle Hoang of Egg Harbor Township High School, who as a team created a COVID-19 case tracking app.

In order to participate in the app challenge, you must be a current middle or high school student and must reside in New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District. Students may compete in up to teams of four, and at least half of the students must live or go to school in the 2nd District to compete.

Applications are due by Nov. 1 and winners will be announced in December.
