MARGATE - The Margate Business Association will hold its 12th annual Le Tour de Downbeach, 10 a.m. Sunday, June 6 on the boardwalk in Ventnor. Rain date is June 13.
The City of Ventnor, Margate Business Association, Borough of Longport and Atlantic City collaborate for the annual event, which began as Le Tour de Ventnor in 2008, and has hundreds of attendees each year.
The family friendly 14-mile bicycle tour begins in Ventnor riding down the boardwalk through Atlantic City, a police escort through Margate and Longport, ending with a barbecue at event sponsor Tomatoe's restaurant, 9300 Amherst Ave. in Margate and free water ice from Margate Dairy Bar & Burger.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the gazebo on Newport Avenue in Ventnor City. Helmets are mandatory for children and adults. The first 200 registrants will receive a Le Tour de Downbeach commemorative T-shirt.
The pre-registration cost is $25 per rider or $20 each for four or more family riders. Day of ride registration is $30 per rider or $20 each for four or more family riders.
