MARGATE - So, you headed out on Saturday, May 1 to enjoy the breezy sunshine and seek treasures along the streets of Margate by the Sea.

The Citywide Yardsale was held at homes across the city and bargain seekers found just what they were looking for, whether it be for your home and garden, or for your children and grandchildren.

One woman sold the remaining products from a pet store she once owned. Her tables were filled with leashes, collars, and there was a rack of doggie outfits that would make any toddler jealous.

Another woman sold designer samples, which is code for those fortunate enough to be a size 6.

Sellers put out household items - some collected from their parents and grandparents - and one young man helped his dad package up items. His most important quest of the day was to earn a few dollars selling his gently used wetsuit.

A woman who traveled all the way from the western part of Atlantic County was on a mission to find "whatever," she said.

She did pretty well purchasing pillows and coverlets to display on her wrap-around porch.

On the way home she passed unsold items left curbside to be collected by the Public Works Department on Sunday. Not one to pass up a real bargain, she stopped her vehicle and loaded up a piece of wrought iron fencing she said she would use in her garden, and a perfectly good quilt rack for her bedroom.

All in all, it was a very good day for yard sale sellers and bargain hunters.
