The Longport Volunteer Fire Department will host the American Mile 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4 starting at 11th and Atlantic avenues. The 1-mile course will end at Pelham Avenue.
Those who cannot run the American Mile in person can still be part of the fire department's annual fundraiser by participating virtually or purchasing a T-shirt.
Registration is $20 in advance before June 20; $25 afterward for all three formats. There will be no race day signups. Those registered can pick up their race day packet at the firehouse 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on July 4.
An awards ceremony will be held at 7:15 p.m. and includes hot dogs and drinks.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
